Golden Visa insurance in Portugal

Ask for the current document list

Ask AIMA or your appointed adviser for the list applying to your application or renewal. Confirm what health-cover evidence is accepted for you and each family member. A property investment alone does not answer the insurance question.

Give Abbeygate the requested wording and your expected residence pattern. An occasional visit and a permanent move can require different cover; avoid choosing a policy solely by the name of the visa.

Build a clear evidence file

Keep certificates, schedules, payment evidence and the full policy wording together. Check names, dates and territory before submitting them. Ask how changes to the application timetable affect the policy.

If you have public healthcare entitlement, have the authority confirm which evidence it accepts. Do not cancel existing cover until you have established what replaces it and when that replacement starts.

Questions about this guide

Is every health policy accepted?

Acceptance depends on the application requirements and your documents. Abbeygate can discuss available cover; the authority determines acceptance.
