Why Abbeygate for Immigration Medical

The plan that actually
clears the immigration desk

We’ve been arranging Britt Immigration Health for British expats moving to Cyprus since the day the product launched. We know which district offices want which format, who asks for what level of cover, and how to turn the paperwork around between your morning appointment and the afternoon submission deadline.

01

Right cover for the permit

Britt Immigration Health is calibrated to meet — not just exceed — the Civil Registry requirement, so you’re not over-buying. Cheaper than the equivalent IMG plan, accepted at the same desks.

02

Format the offices expect

Certificate of insurance laid out in the format Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia district immigration offices recognise — because we deal with all of them every week.

03

Renewals on time

We tag your renewal date to the residency permit cycle so the cover is in place before the immigration desk asks for it — not the other way round.

Immigration FAQs

Common questions about immigration medical cover

It depends on your situation. The Yellow Slip is the MEU1 Registration Certificate for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens staying longer than three months — you apply within four months of arriving. If you are employed or self-employed in Cyprus you pay social-insurance contributions and are covered by the General Healthcare System (GeSY), so you usually don’t need a separate policy for the registration. If you are not working — a student, retiree or self-sufficient resident — you must show comprehensive sickness insurance (CSI), which is exactly what Britt Immigration Health provides.
The Yellow Slip (MEU1) is for EU, EEA and Swiss citizens. The Pink Slip (Temporary Residence Permit) is for non-EU / third-country nationals. Non-EU applicants on the Pink Slip path always need immigration medical insurance; EU applicants only need it when they are not covered through employment / GeSY. Britt Immigration Health is accepted for both.
All of them. MEU1 is the EU citizen registration (Yellow Slip); MEU2 is for non-EU family members of an EU citizen; MEU3 is EU permanent residency after five years; MUKW1/2/3 is the registration route for UK nationals post-Brexit; the Pink Slip is the temporary residence permit for non-EU nationals. Britt Immigration Health satisfies the Civil Registry & Migration health-cover requirement for each.
For the application itself, no. Standard travel insurance is rejected, and GeSY on its own is not accepted as the proof of private cover for new arrivals who aren’t yet enrolled. The Migration Department wants a private, Cyprus-licensed comprehensive sickness policy that includes body repatriation — which is what this policy is built to be.
Yes. Cyprus Civil Registry & Migration specifically require the cover to include body repatriation expenses, and Britt Immigration Health includes it as standard — one of the most common reasons a cheaper or travel policy gets rejected at the district office.
It’s one of the most affordable policies we arrange — the premium depends mainly on age and the number of people on the application. Request a quote online or call our Paphos office and we’ll confirm the exact figure before you commit.
Yes. Britt Immigration Health is accepted by Cyprus Civil Registry & Migration for residency permits and we’ve placed thousands of these. We send the certificate in the exact format the Paphos, Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia district immigration offices are used to processing.
The Cyprus Digital Nomad Visa also requires proof of health cover, though the scope can differ from the standard residency requirement. Tell us you’re applying under the Digital Nomad route and we’ll confirm the right level of cover before issuing the certificate.
Regular plans (like IMG Bronze / Silver / Gold) are designed to actually pay your hospital bills. Britt Immigration Health is designed to meet — cost-effectively — the Civil Registry’s requirement for proof of comprehensive sickness cover. Many expats hold both: Britt for the permit, IMG for actual medical care. Call us and we’ll talk it through.
Once we receive payment the policy is bound immediately. The IPID, Policy Wording and certificate of insurance are emailed within hours — ready for your immigration appointment the same or next day.
Yes — you must maintain continuous private health insurance, without gaps, for as long as you hold the residency permit. We renew the policy annually 30 days before expiry so the cover is always in place before the immigration desk asks for it.
