GESY and private health insurance in Cyprus
Check public healthcare entitlement and assess what you want private cover to provide.

Confirm your own eligibility and registration
Ask the Health Insurance Organisation to confirm which beneficiary category applies to you and what documents it needs. A residence status, contribution or previous insurance arrangement should not be treated as proof that registration is complete.
Keep the confirmation and find out how to access care. Ask about personal-doctor registration, referrals and participating providers before you need treatment.
Decide which private benefits matter
List the benefits you want to discuss: provider choice, treatment outside the public system, geographical cover and any waiting periods. Compare these with the private policy wording rather than assuming all private plans fill the same gaps.
Disclose medical history accurately in the quotation journey. Ask about exclusions, benefit limits and the claims process. Confirm when new cover starts before changing an existing arrangement.
Questions about this guide
Will this guide decide my eligibility?
No. The Health Insurance Organisation confirms GESY eligibility and registration; Abbeygate can explain the private cover it offers.
