S1 and private health cover in Greece
Keep public healthcare registration and private insurance decisions clear.

Establish who is responsible for your healthcare
An S1 records healthcare entitlement under social security coordination where it applies. Eligibility depends on your circumstances; ask the responsible healthcare institution whether it can issue one.
Ask the Greek healthcare institution where to register the S1 and which local documents it requires.
Keep a copy and confirm the date registration takes effect. Do not assume the form covers everyone in your household without checking their individual position.
Compare the private policy with your needs
Ask which treatment, providers and territories your public entitlement covers. Then list the benefits you want from a private policy and compare its limits and exclusions.
Tell Abbeygate about your residence and existing arrangements. Ask about medical-history requirements and any waiting periods before moving from one policy to another.
